Working together to improve mental health in Canada.
The Daymark Foundation partners with organizations in our two priority areas:
Women’s Mental Health
Improving perinatal mental health—the mental health of women and birthing people in the pregnancy and postpartum stage.
Bipolar Disorder
Improving quality of life for people with or at risk of bipolar disorder through early intervention and/or increased access to psychosocial supports.
Funding and Beyond
The Daymark Foundation takes a “more than the money” approach to our philanthropy, leveraging both our financial and our human resources to create impact. In practice, this means developing partnerships with organizations and stakeholders who share our vision and interests, and from there exploring what we can do to support their work. This support could take any of the following forms:
Intellectual Capital
Contributing ideas or knowledge to help the organization optimize its impact.
Human Capital
Contributing our staff’s skills to help an organization in a more hands-on way.
Social Capital
Making connections that would benefit the organization, or spreading the word about their work.
Financial Capital
Providing funding to put towards the organization’s expenses in carrying out a project or mission.
Areas of Support
1. Learning
Sometimes we have a “hunch” that something is needed, but need further validation. The Daymark Foundation supports organizations to surface or consolidate knowledge that will inform subsequent or future efforts to improve women’s mental health or bipolar disorder. Examples include scoping reviews, program evaluations, consultations or small-scale research projects.
2. Capacity
In some cases, organizations are delivering impact on the ground, but their internal core capacity needs strengthening. The Daymark Foundation supports organizations to think more strategically, articulate clear plans, train staff for key roles and implement systems that will enable them to function more effectively.
3. Impact
In other cases, organizations have an idea they want to bring to life or scale to a broader audience. The Daymark Foundation supports organizations to deliver impact in women’s mental health and bipolar disorder through education, awareness, advocacy and/or large-scale service delivery.
4. Collaboration
Finally, organizations may have a desire to collaborate, but lack the bandwidth or structures. The Daymark Foundation helps bring partnerships to life by supporting connective tissue between organizations, partnership projects and strategic alliances.
How We Partner
Our work is dedicated entirely to our priority areas—women’s mental health (perinatal mental health, in particular) and bipolar disorder—with clear strategies guiding our efforts in each. Rather than accepting unsolicited proposals, we thoughtfully build partnerships that align with these strategic priorities.
To learn more about our approach and areas of focus, we encourage you to explore our News & Ideas page. If your work directly aligns with our priorities and you think we should know about it, you’re welcome to reach out to us by email. If there isn’t a fit at this time, we invite you to subscribe to our newsletter to stay updated on the evolution of our strategy and future opportunities to collaborate.
